A wide, nearly flat disc pendant shade in solid brass. The disc has a softly rippled, wavy surface and a fine hand-hammered texture, so it reads more like a hand-beaten plate than a lampshade. A small plain brass cylinder covers the socket in the centre, and the bulb sits just under the disc. The brass is left unlacquered in a warm yellow tone.

Hang one large disc over a dining table, or a pair over a kitchen island. The flat shape spreads light outwards and down, and the adjustable cord suits both low and high ceilings. Unlacquered brass is a living finish: it starts bright and slowly deepens into its own patina. Polish it to keep it bright, or leave it to age.

Care and patina

Unlacquered brass is a living finish. Dust with a soft dry cloth; to brighten it, use a brass polish, or leave it to darken naturally. Avoid harsh cleaners and abrasive pads. See our Care and Patina Guide for the full routine.

Choosing a size. Pick the diameter in the selector above. As a rough guide, an 8 to 12 in shade suits a small island, a bedside or a breakfast nook, 14 to 18 in suits a standard island or dining table, and 22 in works as a single centrepiece over a large table.

Kitchen islands: hang two or three pendants evenly spaced, with the bottom of each shade about 30 to 36 in above the counter.
Dining tables: hang the bottom of the shade about 30 to 34 in above the tabletop, and choose a shade about half to two thirds of the table width.
Cord length: measure from the ceiling to where you want the bottom of the shade, then choose the next cord length up.

Every shade is shaped and hammered by hand in our workshop in Fes, Morocco, a city where coppersmiths have worked the metal for centuries. Small variations in the hammer marks and patina are what make each piece one of a kind.

Solid copper or brass. Raw finishes deepen into a natural patina over time, while oxidized and bronze finishes are made to look aged from the start. Will the colour change over time?
Raw copper and brass develop a living patina that deepens and warms. Oxidized and bronze finishes already look aged and change more slowly.

Do I need an electrician?
