Unlacquered brass and copper are alive: they react to water, air, and touch. That's the point, not a defect. Here's how to care for each finish.
Polished Finish
Rinse and dry after use to slow natural darkening. A light copper or brass polish restores shine when you want it. Skipping polishing lets the piece age into a warm patina over time.
Aged Patina Finish
Already developed a rich, weathered surface. Just wipe dry after use. Avoid harsh abrasives or acidic cleaners, which can strip the patina unevenly. Occasional light waxing helps even out the tone.
General Care
- Wipe dry after each use to prevent water spotting
- Avoid bleach, ammonia, and abrasive scouring pads
- Use a soft cloth and mild soap for everyday cleaning
- Expect color to shift over months and years; this is normal and part of the material
