Vintage Hammered Copper Dome Pendant Light

A half-sphere dome pendant in solid copper with a dark, vintage oxidized finish in deep reddish brown. The whole dome is finely hand-hammered, so warmer copper glints show on the high points and darker patina settles in the hollows. A short copper socket cup sits on top, on a black fabric cord.

Hang a pair over a kitchen island or one large dome over a dining table for a warm, old-world look. The copper is unlacquered, so the patina keeps deepening slowly with time.

Care and patina

The vintage oxidized copper finish is meant to look aged and will keep developing slowly. Dust with a soft dry cloth and avoid polishes or harsh cleaners, which would strip the patina. See our Care and Patina Guide for more.

Choosing a size. Pick the diameter in the selector above. As a rough guide, an 8 to 12 in shade suits a small island, a bedside or a breakfast nook, 14 to 18 in suits a standard island or dining table, and 22 in works as a single centrepiece over a large table.

Kitchen islands: hang two or three pendants evenly spaced, with the bottom of each shade about 30 to 36 in above the counter.
Dining tables: hang the bottom of the shade about 30 to 34 in above the tabletop, and choose a shade about half to two thirds of the table width.
Cord length: measure from the ceiling to where you want the bottom of the shade, then choose the next cord length up.

Every shade is shaped and hammered by hand in our workshop in Fes, Morocco, a city where coppersmiths have worked the metal for centuries. Small variations in the hammer marks and patina are what make each piece one of a kind.

Solid copper or brass. Raw finishes deepen into a natural patina over time, while oxidized and bronze finishes are made to look aged from the start. Will the colour change over time?
Raw copper and brass develop a living patina that deepens and warms. Oxidized and bronze finishes already look aged and change more slowly.

Bulb and socket details are in each product description. Unless it says otherwise, the bulb is not included.

Do I need an electrician?
