Hammered Antique Copper Bell Pendant Light

An onion-shaped bell pendant in solid copper that rises to a small pointed top. The whole shade is densely hand-hammered and finished in an antique oxidized copper, warm brown with lighter copper catching the edge of each dimple. Inside, the raw copper is left bright, so the shade glows rosy gold when lit.

The pendant hangs from a brass chain with a small brass neck, a mixed-metal look that suits a kitchen island, a dining table or an entryway. Copper is a living metal and the oxidized finish keeps deepening slowly over time.

Care and patina

The antique copper finish is meant to look aged and will keep developing slowly. Dust with a soft dry cloth and avoid polishes or harsh cleaners, which would strip the patina. See our Care and Patina Guide for more.

Choosing a size. Pick the diameter in the selector above. As a rough guide, an 8 to 12 in shade suits a small island, a bedside or a breakfast nook, 14 to 18 in suits a standard island or dining table, and 22 in works as a single centrepiece over a large table.

Kitchen islands: hang two or three pendants evenly spaced, with the bottom of each shade about 30 to 36 in above the counter.
Dining tables: hang the bottom of the shade about 30 to 34 in above the tabletop, and choose a shade about half to two thirds of the table width.
Cord length: measure from the ceiling to where you want the bottom of the shade, then choose the next cord length up.

Every shade is shaped and hammered by hand in our workshop in Fes, Morocco, a city where coppersmiths have worked the metal for centuries. Small variations in the hammer marks and patina are what make each piece one of a kind.

Solid copper or brass. Raw finishes deepen into a natural patina over time, while oxidized and bronze finishes are made to look aged from the start. Will the colour change over time?
Raw copper and brass develop a living patina that deepens and warms. Oxidized and bronze finishes already look aged and change more slowly.

Is a bulb included?
Bulb and socket details are in each product description. Unless it says otherwise, the bulb is not included.

Do I need an electrician?
Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended for ceiling lights.
