A half-sphere dome pendant shade in solid brass, finely and evenly hand-hammered all over so the surface catches the light in hundreds of small facets. The brass is left unlacquered in a warm yellow tone, and a short copper-toned socket cup sits on top of the dome.

Hang a pair over a kitchen island or a single dome over a dining table or sink. Unlacquered brass is a living finish: it starts bright and warm and slowly deepens into its own patina with use. Polish it to keep it bright, or leave it to age.

Care and patina

Dust with a soft dry cloth. To brighten, use a brass polish; to keep the aged look, leave it alone. Avoid harsh cleaners and abrasive pads. See our Care and Patina Guide for the full routine.

Choosing a size. Pick the diameter in the selector above. As a rough guide, an 8 to 12 in shade suits a small island, a bedside or a breakfast nook, 14 to 18 in suits a standard island or dining table, and 22 in works as a single centrepiece over a large table.

Kitchen islands: hang two or three pendants evenly spaced, with the bottom of each shade about 30 to 36 in above the counter.
Dining tables: hang the bottom of the shade about 30 to 34 in above the tabletop, and choose a shade about half to two thirds of the table width.
Cord length: measure from the ceiling to where you want the bottom of the shade, then choose the next cord length up.

Every shade is shaped and hammered by hand in our workshop in Fes, Morocco, a city where coppersmiths have worked the metal for centuries. Small variations in the hammer marks and patina are what make each piece one of a kind.

Solid copper or brass. Raw finishes deepen into a natural patina over time, while oxidized and bronze finishes are made to look aged from the start. Will the colour change over time?
Raw copper and brass develop a living patina that deepens and warms. Oxidized and bronze finishes already look aged and change more slowly.

Do I need an electrician?
